Parent Meeting Wednesday, August 5th, 2020
Hello Sodus Families,
As you can imagine, we have been very busy developing our re-opening plan and it will be submitted to the State today. While this plan reflects our plans as of today, please know that this plan can and will most likely be adjusted as the opening of school nears. There are many factors that could drive these adjustments, including further parent survey results and updated guidance from the State Education Department, Governor’s Office, and Department of Health.
Communicating this plan to you is critically important. You can find the detailed plan on the homepage of our website, www.soduscsd.org. Please take some time to review the plan. It is very lengthy and detailed, but this will provide with an in-depth look at our comprehensive thinking. In addition, we are holding parent meetings via Zoom on Wednesday, August 5th. Times are as follows:
Elementary School Families (UPK through 3rd grade)– 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Intermediate School Families (4th through 6th Grade) – 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Junior/Senior High School Families (7th through 12th grade) – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
You can find the links to these meetings on our homepage. All you need to do is click on the link and join in.
The purpose of these meetings is to provide you with the highlights of the plan. Important topics such as mask wearing, social distancing, building schedules, transportation, academic expectations, to name a few will be covered. I will also talk about the parent survey that was recently sent out to all families. We also want to answer any questions that you may have. To help us prepare, please submit your questions to us ahead of time by clicking on the questionnaire link on our homepage. This link will take you to a google form that you can use to submit your questions. Please do this as early as possible so that we have time to prepare responses prior to the parent meetings.
Our entire team has worked very hard on this plan and believe that it provides you with the instructional model that you prefer and as best as possible meets your child’s academic needs in this very different educational environment. While nothing compares to having your child in school full time, we do believe that this plan comes as close to this as possible. First and foremost, this plan meets all safety protocols. Safety is our first priority and safety serves as the foundation for which this plan was built.
I hope that you will be able to join us during your child’s scheduled building meeting. If you have children in more than one building, please attend each one as information will be adjusted based on the building.
The information contained in this message will also be posted on the website in case you miss any of the details I just mentioned.
I hope you will be able to join a parent meeting next Wednesday. Have a great weekend.
