  • NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SODUS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special meeting of the qualified voters of the Sodus Central School District will be held at the Sodus Community Library, 17 Maple Avenue, Sodus, New York, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m.  The following proposition will be submitted for voter approval at said meeting:

     

    PROPOSITION

     

    RESOLVED:  That the Board of Trustees of the Sodus Community Library be authorized to raise the amount of $321,442.00 annually to support and maintain such library, separate and apart from the school district budget, by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the school district commencing in the 2018-2019 fiscal year (inclusive of all amounts previously approved), and continuing thereafter until changed by a majority vote of the qualified voters voting in an annual or special meeting.

     

    NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk at 6375 Robinson Road, Sodus, New York.  Such application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.  A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for inspection during regular business hours in said office of the Clerk during the five days prior to the day of the election and such list will be posted at the polling place of the election.

     

    NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that pursuant to the Education Law of the State of New York, there will be a PUBLIC HEARING on the budget held at the Sodus Community Library from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2018.

    LEGAL NOTICE

    NOTICE OF ANNUAL BUDGET VOTE, BUDGET HEARING, AND ELECTION OF TRUSTEES

    To the qualified voters of Sodus Central School District:

     

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the Education Law of the State of New York, there will be a public budget hearing held by said school district on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, and that separate balloting will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Board Meeting Room, 6375 Robinson Road, Sodus, New York, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m., on the election of members of the Board of Education, and on the following propositions:

     

    PROPOSITION 1:     Shall the proposed School Budget for the period July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 be approved?

     

    PROPOSITION 2:     Shall the Board of Education be authorized to establish a reserve fund to be known as the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund 2018 for the purpose of financing the purchase of vehicles for student transportation?  The ultimate amount of such fund shall be $1,750,000 for five (5) years.  The source from which the funds shall be obtained will be:  State aid received in the 2017-2018 fiscal year and any fiscal year thereafter from the purchase of vehicles for students transportation; unencumbered fund balances in any fiscal year as designated by the Board of Education; budgetary appropriations as approved by the voters; proceeds from the sale of used vehicles; insurance proceeds from damaged or destroyed vehicles; and any other source approved by the voters.  And be it further resolved, that the Board of Education be authorized to make initial expenditure from such Reserve Fund for the authorized purpose of such funds in an amount not to exceed $350,000 in the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

     

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year, July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, for school purposes, specifying the several purposes, and the amount for each, will be available upon request to the qualified voters within the district from Wednesday, May 2, 2018 to and including Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the District Office, 6375 Robinson Road, Sodus, New York, or at the Main Office of each school during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon, and 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on each day other than Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, and at said meeting of the District;

     

    NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that petitions for nominating candidates for office of school board member must be filed in the district clerk's office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and until 5:00 p.m. on April 16, 2018;

     

    AND

     

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that qualified voters may apply for absentee ballots at the district clerk's office, 6375 Robinson Road, Sodus, New York on any day except Saturday, Sunday and holidays, beginning on April 17, 2018, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  A list of persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the office of the district clerk on any business day prior to the day of the election, except Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
