 iBelong!

    This is the slogan chosen by our PBIS team for our building because it represents the feeling of community that we want to continue to develop in our school. PBIS stands for Postitive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  It is really more of a philosophy than a program.  What it means is that we, in the Intermediate Building, are committed to explicitly teaching and reinforcing behaviors related to Respect, Responsibility and Kindness.    

     These behaviors are taught through Cool Tools - videos that have been made by the staff to explain the expectations for a given area, demonstrate the positive behaviors and the negative behaviors.  These videos are accompanied by discussions related to specific examples of respect, responsibility and kindness demonstrated, or not demonstrated, in the role plays.  The Cool Tool video always ends with a replaying of the positive behavior and a summary of why it is important to demonstrate the appropriate behavior in that setting.

     iBucks are tickets that students earn when they are "caught" displaying positive behaviors in any of the areas that have been targeted to date.  Students can use these iBucks for lotteries or for a celebration such as an after school movie or pool party.
